From Open Air to a Stylish Screened-In Retreat

When Jess and Michael reached out to us to transform their open deck into a fully functional, all-season screened-in space, we knew this was going to be a special project. Their goal was to create a relaxing outdoor area where they could enjoy the scenic beauty of Medina, no matter the weather, without worrying about insects or seasonal changes. With additions like EZ-Screen porch windows, infrared heaters, a handy rail and ledge, a stunning pine ceiling finished with a gray stain, and a subtle gray paint color to match their home’s fresh exterior, this project is now a dream outdoor living space.

The Before and After

Jess and Michael’s deck had a lot of potential. It was spacious and offered a beautiful view of their backyard, but it lacked protection from the elements. The open design meant they could only enjoy it on warm, dry days, and even then, they had to deal with bugs or the occasional storm cutting their time short. They wanted something more versatile—a space they could enjoy year-round. This remodel was a 3-month process and was completed at the perfect time to transition to spring! Here’s what changed:

A customized and personalized enclosed space that extended their use throughout the year!

EZ-Screen Porch Windows

One of the most impactful changes was the installation of EZ-Screen porch windows. These windows offer Jess and Michael the ultimate flexibility—by simply sliding the windows up or down, they can control how much fresh air flows in, without sacrificing comfort. When open, the screens keep the bugs out while allowing for a breezy atmosphere. When closed, the windows provide protection from rain, wind, and chilly temperatures, turning the porch into a more enclosed, cozy space no matter the season.

Cozy so many days of the year

Infrared Heaters

To make the porch usable throughout the colder months, we installed infrared heaters. These heaters offer instant, efficient warmth without taking up floor space or requiring unsightly hardware. Now, Jess and Michael can enjoy their porch even on cooler fall evenings or during Medina’s crisp winters, turning it into a year-round extension of their home.

Rail Ledge for Drinks or Décor

Adding a touch of convenience and style, we installed a custom rail ledge along the yard-facing wall. This feature not only gives the porch a polished, built-in look but also offers a perfect spot to set down drinks during a gathering or add decorative touches like potted plants or lanterns. This functional ledge adds both charm and practicality, making it easy for Jess and Michael to personalize their porch space.

Pine Ceiling with Gray Stain

One of the most striking features of this remodel is the pine ceiling finished with a warm gray stain. The rich wood grain adds warmth to the space, while the gray tones bring a modern, polished look that complements both the outdoor setting and the rest of the home. It’s a beautiful feature that adds depth and character to the porch, making it feel like a true extension of their indoor living space.

What was once an underused outdoor space is now a versatile, elegant screened-in retreat where they can relax, entertain, or simply take in the beauty of their backyard—no matter the season. From the EZ-Screen windows and infrared heaters to the thoughtful addition of the rail and ledge and the striking pine ceiling, every element of this remodel was designed to enhance both functionality and style. If you’re looking to upgrade your outdoor space, Jess and Michael’s project in Medina is the perfect inspiration for creating a screened-in porch that’s not only beautiful but built to last and serve you year-round.
